Webster, (a.k.a. Web "Star"), is a six-year old Border Collie rescued as a stray from the Banff, Alberta dog pound four years ago. Webster, who carries his own food in a custom-built pack, walked the first 2000 km of the trek with Karsten. Aside from one strained leg and a mild infection of cuts sustained in a small fall from a rocky ledge, he has weathered the trek remarkably well.

In numerous encounters with bears, Webster has remained quiet beside Karsten. In the two instances where black bears made sojourns into camp, Web "Star" convinced them to leave.

Webster thanks his sponsors, the Canmore Veterinary Hospital and Veterinary Medical Diet, for making his participation in the Y2Y Hike possible.
